Intermediate Literature Unit 6

Marian Anderson and Raphael are two amazing artists.  These two artists are strong, creative, caring, and determined to finish what they start.  Marian Anderson did not give up even when other people treated her poorly.  She cared for the other people that were going through the same things.  Marian loved to sing.  Of all the things he could be Raphael Sanzio was caring.  He cared for his friends and their work.  He took time to help them and watch them work.
All Marian Anderson wanted to do was sing, but because she had brown skin people didn't want to let her.  Even though she isn't treated like a person she still doesn't give up and stop singing.  When she went to a singing school to learn more about singing she was ignored because she had colored skin.  She was hurt by it but she still didn't give up!  Marian Anderson sang and sang until she was invited to the Lincoln Memorial.  She accepted the invitation because she knew she was a symbol for her people.
Raphael Sanzio was a young artistic boy that loved to watch and learn about art.  He watched his dad paint and his neighbor make pots.  This boy was an example of the saying, "watch and learn."  One of his friends wanted to marry Raphael's neighbor's daughter.  Raphael's friend was not a potter and Raphael's neighbor (Benedetto) wanted his daughter to marry a potter.   Later after this Benedetto made a challenge,  it was that anyone who wanted to marry his daughter would need to make a pot witch he would judge.  Witch ever pot was the best the maker of the pot could marry his daughter.  This made Raphael's friend sad because he knew he couldn't make a pot, so out of kindness and care for his friend Raphael offered to make a pot for his friend.  His friend said he could.  Raphael worked day and night on his pot.  When his friend saw it he was amazed.  Later Raphael won the contest with his beautiful pot.  His friend married Benedetto's daughter.  This is an example of caring for a friend.
These two artists are amazing, creative, artistic, and determined to finish the unfinished.  They are examples of determination, creativeness and friendship.  Without these traits the world would be a different place.  With a little creativity and artistic thinking these people had success.

Risk and Axis and Allies

Both Axis and Allies and Risk have many similarities and differences here are a few of them.  They are both war based board games that are based on wars happening in our world.  The games have a lot of small game pieces.  The game boards are similar and different.    While playing these games the player will have to follow many rules that may be the same or different in both of the board games.
Both games have LOTS of pieces.  The pieces in both games are different and similar.  In Axis and Allies the game pieces are larger than the ones in Risk.  In Risk there are only 3 types of pieces, infantry, horses, and cannons.  In Axis and Allies there are many different types of game pieces including tanks, battleships, bombers, fighters, aircraft carriers, infantry, submarines, and transports.
The game boards in both games are different.  They are both maps of the world.  The game board for Axis and Allies is bigger than the one for Risk.  Axis and Allies has more places for the player to attack than Risk.
When playing these games there are many different rules to follow.  At the beginning of Risk the player has to claim your territories.  At the beginning of Axis and allies the player picks world powers to be, he or she can be either Germany, Japan, Russia, the United kingdom, or the United States.  When they pick world powers you get certain territories to go with it.  In Risk the player will earn armies by concurring territories each turn.  In Axis and allies the player has to earn money and buy armies for an attack.  While playing Axis and allies a player can spend the money they earn on developing new weapons or upgrades for your armies, but not in Risk.  The upgrades can enhance moving capabilities, army cost, defense systems, and fighting  capabilities for your armies.
Both games have a lot of similar ideas and different ideas.  These Ideas make them really fun.  If games weren't different or similar they would all be boring.
